Curriculum

Associate Degree in Nursing Sciences (A.D.N.)

The curriculum consists of 80 credits divided into 6 semesters, which may begin any time of the year. The curriculum may take from 2 to 4 calendar years to complete. Students may select either an independent study or traditional track. Students selecting the independent study track spend most of the Nursing Science courses (semesters 1 - 4 studying at home in familiar surroundings guided by the Delphi University faculty using computer aided learning, podcasts, video and teleconferencing, and the internet. Independent study students submit required homework for each course and take final examinations given at the Delphi University Campus or at a location designated and monitored by Delphi University at the completion of every course. Independent study students are required to make trips to the University according to the following schedule:

A four-day long weekend at the completion the first (1st), second (2nd), and third (3rd) Nursing Science semesters to participate in laboratories, attend seminars, and take final examinations.

A ten (10) day session at the completion of the fourth (4th) Nursing Science semester to take final examinations, attend an orientation to the clinical semesters, receive clinical assignments, and attend courses for certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).

Semesters five and six are held at Delphi University clinical training sites.

A weeklong session at the Delphi University Campus on completion of all studies for final written and oral examinations, nursing proficiency examinations, and graduation ceremonies.

The course grades for independent study students are determined as follows: 1/2 from the required homework and 1/2 from the final examination. Students selecting the traditional track will attend daily lectures and laboratories which given by Delphi University Faculty at the Delphi University Campus. Independent study students are expected to take courses in the same sequence as the traditional students and must be enrolled in at least 2 courses and no more than 6 courses simultaneously. Students are graded on a 4.0 system as follows: A - 4.0, B - 3.0, C - 2.0, D - 1.0, F - 0, and must maintain a 2.0 average to advance. All courses in which an F (fail) is obtained must be repeated and passed. Eighty (80) credits with an overall average of 2.0 are required to graduate. Students graduating with an overall average of 3.7 or greater will graduate Summa Cum Laude and those with an overall average of 3.5 or greater will graduate Cum Laude.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N.)

The curriculum consists of 130 credits divided into 60 credits of Nursing Science courses and an additional 70 credits, which must include 21 credits from Social and Behavioral Sciences, 6 credits from Communications, 3 credits from Mathematics, 19 credits from Natural Sciences, and 15 Credits of electives. The curriculum may take from 3 to 6 calendar years to complete and begin at any time of the year. Students may select either an independent study or traditional track. Students selecting the independent study track take the required non-nursing courses and the Nursing Science courses (semesters 1 - 4 studying at home in familiar surroundings guided by the Delphi University faculty using computer aided learning, podcasts, video and teleconferencing, and the internet. Independent study students submit required homework for each course and take final examinations given at the Delphi University Campus or at a location designated and monitored by Delphi University at the completion of every semester.
