Curriculum

The curriculum consists of 180 credits which may begin any time of the year. The curriculum may take from 3 1/3 to 5 calendar years to complete and is divided into five (5) semesters totaling 90 credits (equivalent to 90 weeks of instruction) of basic sciences and five (5) semesters (90 weeks / credits) of clinical rotations. Students may select either an independent study or traditional track. Students selecting the independent study track spend most of the Basic Science courses studying at home in familiar surroundings guided by the Delphi University faculty using computer aided learning, video and tele-conferencing, pod casts, and the internet. Independent study students submit required homework for each course and take final examinations given at the Delphi University Campus at the completion of every semester. Additionally, independent study students make two (2) one (1) week long trips to the University campus during laboratory courses to attend laboratories. The course grades for independent study students are determined as follows: 1/2 from the required homework and 1/2 from the final examination. Approximately 40% of the total credits are spent off campus by the independent study students. Students selecting the traditional track will attend daily lectures and laboratories which given by Delphi University Faculty at the Delphi University Campus. Independent study students are expected to take courses in the same sequence as the traditional students and must be enrolled in at least 2 courses and no more than 6 courses simultaneously. Students who wish to take their clinical rotations in the United States must take and pass Part One of the USMLE or have an overall G.P.A. of 3.5 or better prior to beginning the rotations. Students are graded on a 4.0 system as follows: A - 4.0, B - 3.0, C - 2.0, D - 1.0, F - 0, and must maintain a 2.0 average to advance. All courses in which an F (fail) is obtained must be repeated and passed. One hundred eighty (180) credits with an overall average of 2.0 is required to graduate. Students graduating with an overall average of 3.7 or greater will graduate Summa Cum Laude and those with an overall average of 3.5 or greater will graduate Cum Laude.
