The Sandhill Academy is an Online Home School offering courses for students from Pre-kindergarden to 12th grade. Sandhill Academy offers exciting distance learning alternatives uniquely designed to fit your student’s individual needs. With qualified teachers, numerous administrative services, and various course options, Sandhill Academy provides your student with everything he needs to achieve academic success.
Pre-kindergarden to grade 2 is paper based so your student can learn to read and write before moving to the online curriculum. Grades 3 - 12 are online with grades 3 - 5 continuing with one paper based class per year in penmanship to develop writing skills. Parents can opt for paper based curriculum in all grades, however, with the ubiquity of computers in our lives, the online curriculum is recommended.
Graduation Requirements
Twenty-four credits are the minimum needed to earn a high school diploma from Sandhill Academy. Some states may have additional graduation requirements that apply to students enrolled in distance learning schools. Check with your state agency or home school support organization for specific guidelines.
One-half credit is earned for each semester of a course that a student successfully completes. Each semester’s work is divided into five or more units, and the semester grade is determined by the average of these unit scores. It typically takes a student around 90 school days to complete a semester, or about 180 school days (nine months) to complete a two-semester course.
Students must be enrolled in the Academy full-time (taking at least four courses) before qualifying as candidates for an Academy diploma. Home school transfer students must earn at least their last five credits through the Academy. Transfer students must earn at least 2.5 credits through the Academy to graduate. High school credits earned prior to Academy enrollment can be accepted based on official transcripts
