High School Electives

 

Health I

One semester (1/2 credit) elective health from a moral perspective emphasizing that good health includes more than just good eating habits and regular exercise: it also includes spiritual, emotional, social, and environmental well-being.

Spanish I

Teaches a student to ask and answer basic questions and respond to simple statements.

Spanish II

Teaches students to read, write, and listen to more complex structures. Secondary Spanish students learn Spanish by reading, listening, speaking, and writing. Course materials include numerous language resources such as Spanish- English Dictionary, animated exercises, educational games, and audio recordings of Spanish speakers.

       

Secondary French

Students become secret agents that must accomplish a mission by learning how to read, write, listen, and speak in French. Course materials include numerous language resources, memory aids, songs, cultural insights, and audio recordings by French speakers.

Home Economics

From cooking to finances to childcare, our home economics course not only teaches homemaking skills but also the importance of a Christian home life as well as financial freedom and good character qualities.

American Literature 

Discover the works of renowned American writers in this one semester (1/2 credit) course which covers a variety of periods including Early American Literature, the Romantic Period, War and Reconciliation, The Modern Age, and Modern to Post-modern Age.

British Literature

One semester (1/2 credit) course covers prominent British authors and their writings from the Middle Ages, Reformation and Renaissance, the Neoclassical and Romantic Periods, The Victorian Age, and the Modern Era.

State History

One semester course (1/2 Credit) - topics include state government and leaders, state growth and population, natural resources, economics and business, tourism and cultural distinctions, and Christian heritage and influences.

College Planner

One semester (1/2 credit) course guides students through the process of selecting a college, starting with self-analysis and goals. It the steers them through the process of applications, financial aid, interviews, and even ACT and SAT testing. This is an invaluable source for any high school student faced with the decision of where to attend college.         

Consumer Math

Course explores mathematical applications for daily use. Topics include family finances, occupations, business, and transportation. Appropriate for high school students who have completed Algebra I and Geometry.

U.S. Constitution

One semester course (1/2 credit)  about the steps that led to the formation of the US Constitution. Ideal for students who wish to understand the principles of the constitution and how they apply to everyday life.
